Subject New CME MQM IP Test Address and Production Telnet Change Effective Immediately
Effective Date 04/06/01
Notice Number CM#0120

The CME is continuing to upgrade our network in order to enhance reliability and flexibility for the future. In the coming months we will be working with you on a number of network changes related to the clearing side of data processing. They are as follows:

  • Converting current MQMIP users to new IP addresses for the test processor (MVSB)
  • Migrating remaining clearing member firms and their related software/service vendors to FIN network for connectivity and/or all applications. This document will be forthcoming next week.

The most immediate item is the conversion of the MQM IP address for the test channel (MTST) on MVSB from 155.155.212.253 to 198.212.155.241. The CME has added this new address to our network. Any future MQM testing on the IP side only, must be made at this address. All firms that are using "MQM IP" must make the appropriate changes on their networks to this new address as soon as possible. Then you must conduct a ping test and send and receive some test TREX messages. In July 2001, we will be changing the production MQM IP address as well as to:198.212.155.249. For now, that address remains 155.155.210.233. We strongly encourage all firms that do 3270 Telnet in production to change to the new 198.212.155.249 address now.

This change does not apply to those firms that are still connecting to MQM via SNA (APPN) test channel :CC17.

Testing New MQM IP Test Address

Beginning next Tuesday, Client Management will coordinate testing MQM IP users access to this new address. On April 10 th , 12 th , 17 th and 19 th (Tuesdays and Thursdays), between 7:00-10:00 a.m, firms can schedule an early morning test. If you need a different date or time, please arrange this in advance with the contacts listed below. The test cycle will proceed as follows:

  • Firm pings new MQM IP address 198.212.155.241
  • Firm sends 5-10 TREX messages with valid firm data to test queue using the MQM test parameters. (They should already be in your configuration, however we have listed them again at the end of this memo.

We will not send confirmation records back to the firm. There is no need to send back to the firm.

The MQM channels and queue names are not changing for IP.

Special Note: If your firm fails to successfully complete this test, you will be unable to conduct any MQM IP testing with the CME going forward. All firms are expected to have the ability to test with the CME for our required applications.

To schedule your test and to make inquiries please contact Lisa Amato at lamato@cme.com (312) 338-2654 or Karen F. McCoy at kmccoy@cme.com (312) 930-4524.
